Our Team

Lisa Smith

I, Lisa Smith, started this rescue with a team of experienced friends and colleagues that have a genuine desire to help Good Dogs find Good homes. We believe in dog safety, quality of life, commitment, loyalty, love, training, passion, education and a better life for all dogs. We believe they are Gods creatures, they should be cherished and respected. We will not accept anything less. We chose the name A Good Dog Rescue because we will hold ourselves to a higher standard, expect more from us because we expect more from ourselves. We are committed to them as they trust us to do so.

Shay C.

Shay, from Birmingham, Alabama, has been involved in rescue for a number of years. She is especially interested in helping special needs, seniors, and death row dogs in kill shelters in Alabama. Her hope is to bring more attention to the pet overpopulation crisis in her state. Her favorite aspect of rescue is transport day. She and her husband are proud parents to four rescue dogs.

Anne W.

Anne is our Puppy Director with a decade of experience working in the field of veterinary medicine. She is a mom to 4 human children and 5 fur children, four of whom are A Good Dog Rescue Alumni’s. She is well versed in offering her insight and experience particularly in helping adopters prepare for their new puppy. From routine to supplies to puppy behavior, Anne can help you to get on the right track from the moment you get your new puppy home.

Carly S.

Carly is our Adoption Coordinator and has also served as manager at Canine Kindergarten, a dog daycare . She is a certified dog trainer with a wealth of knowledge on dog behavior. She’s often one of the first people to meet our rescues when they arrive in NY. She’s essential to the entire process from vetting to adoption day to supporting families as their new furry family member settles in. Carly loves all dogs, but seniors are her favorite. She adopted 12-year-old Angelina Ballerina from our rescue in 2020.  Carly has supported rescue organizations internationally including in Indonesia where she lived for 2 years. While growing up her family fostered all kinds of injured animals for the Humane Society including squirrels, birds and turtles.

Veronica

We welcomed Veronica as our Marketing Intern in 2020 to assist with community outreach, social media, and adoption events. A local high school student, Veronica dedicates a remarkable amount of support to our rescue in her spare time. Her specialty is creating social media content that captures the essence of a dog’s spirit, enabling us to match our rescue dogs with a perfect home. At school, she runs a student club called “Paws to the Rescue” where youth get involved in volunteering and advocating for homeless animals in our community.
